In 2015 my wife and I began to ask for the Ancient Paths; the paths set out by our ancestors, but forgotten in this world of business and mass production. The old ways where people lived with an upright heart and devoted their hands to creating products meant to last a lifetime. Less concerned about the dollar and more concerned with craftsmanship and meaning.

We returned first to what we knew to be true. The word of YHWH. His Word contains perfect instructions to insure future generations wouldn’t stray from the path and live in harmony with His creation, not against it.

We had spent 35 years climbing the corporate ladders and living the so-called American dream. Amassing car loans, mortgages, and other obligations, we knew something had to change.

In 2017 we purchased some land, got out of debt, built a house with our hands, and started our farm. As we grew, we changed. The more modern ways we unlearned, the more ancient skills we acquired. Our first livestock was a small flock of Shetland sheep that has since grown in size and provided us with wool and meat. It was at this time that I began to desire to preserve the hides of these sheep that we had spent so much time raising. Honoring every part of the animal that gave so much to us is truly an Ancient Path.

My desire is to provide the same service to those who desire the same ways of our ancestors. The hide of the family cow shouldn’t go to waste, but should be remembered. The pelts of our beloved sheep should be made into usable products. The trophy of the hunt that provides our meat shouldn’t go to waste. The Ancients didn’t throw these byproducts away, they honored the animals by the craftsmanship of a tannery.
